Welcome to Dances with Yarn! My name is McKaila, and I am a needle art enthusiast. I taught myself the art ~6 years ago, and have enjoyed crocheting and loom knitting ever since! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy my corner of the world wide web!
More About Me:
I grew up on a small farm in Iowa, which contributed to my love for animals. This passion developed into a career goal, and I decided to pursue a degree that would allow me to utilize my thirst for knowledge and interest in animal health and well-being: Animal Science with an emphasis in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. After spending months on my application to veterinary school, I have been accepted into the veterinary medicine program! Eeek! I will begin my journey through veterinary school this fall.
Besides my passion for animals, I really enjoy dancing – hence the name “Dances with Yarn”. I began dancing at the age of 5, and have enjoyed just about every style of dance out there! My favorite style of dance is tap dancing. Who doesn’t enjoy making music with their feet?!
Last, but not least, I also get much enjoyment out of crocheting and loom knitting! In the beginning, I was enticed to learn how to crochet and loom knit, because I wanted to save a little money and make my own Christmas gifts. The desire to make these gifts blossomed, and I realized crocheting was not only a way to save money, but a way to relax from my crazy busy life! After that moment, I began learning as much as I could about these two needle arts. Reading through several informational blog posts sparked my interest in sharing my experiences with the world! That is when I decided to create my own blog. And here we are.
“Mission Statement” – What information can you find on my blog?
On Dances with Yarn, I plan on sharing information, techniques, etc. that I have learned over the past few years on my journey through teaching myself how to crochet and loom knit. Because of my initial intentions of learning how to crochet, many of my posts will be related to money saving methods and/or DIY. Below is a taste of what kind of posts you can find on my blog:
*DIY and money saving tips for your hobby
*Creative ways to make tools and/or supplies for less
*Techniques or helpful tips I have learned over the last few years
